My husband's nephew loves Minecraft! I have tried to play it once or twice and just don't understand it. It has blocks and somehow you stack them to build things, is what I think you are supposed to do, but it is too confusing for me! My sister-in-law was planning on making his birthday cake, but ran out of time so she sent me a picture of what she wanted and asked it I could do it for her.
I've never made a cake that had cake, jello and rice crispy cake all together. But when you think about it, what a perfect combination for a kid's birthday party! I didn't have time to make the characters out of fondant, and I really wanted them to look minecrafty so I made them out of paper. I found this site which has all the printouts for all the Minecraft characters.
It was a fun cake to do, and so different then anything I've done in the past. The best part is that Camron loved it! He was so excited about it that he was jumping up and down!

Charm Square Baby Blanket
I've wanted to make this blanket for quite a while now, so when I found out our friends were having a baby I knew this was my chance! I got the pattern from Thimbelina's blog. Since they knew they were having a boy I figured there was no reason I couldn't get most of it done ahead of time; I would just have to wait on the name. The little guy decided to come early though, as a matter of fact, I had just pulled out the flannel to start cutting when I got the text. Turns out I didn't have to wait for the name after all!
For his name I wanted a font that would be easy to applique, but still look cute. After going through several fonts I decided to use Gypsy.
